Direct Trade

In 1999, Duane Sorenson opened Stumptown's first café in Portland with a singular obsession: get the best coffee in the world and share it. Not through a broker. Not on a commodity exchange. In person — at the farm, with the family who grew it.

We pay above Fair Trade prices, sign multi-year contracts, and invest directly in growing communities. Our vintage German roasters run on intuition and experience, not automation. Every bag we sell carries the story of the people who made it possible.
